Very professional and welcoming staff i had a good experience

This is a great school in a quiet neighborhood where two of my children attended for early childhood (preschool) special education services. The teachers there were outstanding and provided a safe and nurturing place for my kids, both with Autism Spectrum disorder, learn the skills needed to be ready to attend Kindergarten.nnThis school is one of the schools within the Osseo Area School district, which is conveniently located next to the Enrollment Center for the district.

My son and I are survivors of domestic abuse by my ex husband. We both have trauma history and I am also a veteran with PTSD. The social worker whom I thought cared about my son and I and whom I thought had integrity proved me wrong today along with her supervisor when they both attacked and invalidated anything I had to say in regards to a comment the social worker made to me in her own office about another teacher. The teacher thought it would be beneficial to have a discussion between us and the supervisor to discuss the comment and how to best move forward from there in regards to how to better serve families, especially military families dealing with PTSD. After stopping the meeting we originally were suppose to have the supervisor offered to speak with me in her office where she again was invalidating to my concerns and told me what I said didn't sound like anything the social worker would say. Just because you know someone doesn't mean they are incapable of being wrong or saying the wrong thing. She had no regard for my emotional state in the matter and tossed my 4 year old and myself out of the building. I found it ironic they had a pamphlet about mental illness yet she and her social worker deregulated me so badly I have decided not to have my child go back to that school. After seeing their unprofessional reaction to a valid concern I had, after making me think all this school year they gave a damn about the families they serve and what they go through I am heartbroken for my 4 year old son after the hell we've gone through only to find that isn't the case. It was very cowardly of the social worker to not own up to what she said and for her supervisor to treat me as such because she can't believe someone she knows can't be wrong. The point of the meeting was to point out that it is so important parents with PTSD or other mental health issues are not afraid to be open with teachers or people at the school to make sure their children are getting the best help they need and that what someone says or advises them to do doesn't make them feel isolated and unable to speak their truths to get the right help they need. I sacrificed my freedom and a lot more as a navy veteran and all I wanted was for my son and myself to feel supported and instead I was betrayed, berated and very very disappointed. I thought it was important to say this here because I definitely wasn't given a voice in there. How they acted they should be ashamed and I hope no one else goes through what I did.
