Great place. I started my walk a bit late in the afternoon and did not make it to the beach. I did, however, make it to this small pond before having to navigate back to my car in the dark. I will definitely be returning another day, but at a much earlier time, to properly explore and appreciate the beauty of the area. It's too bad that it has been such a dry summer because the creek is completely dry, although the creek bed does now offer another trail.

My first and last time at the beach in 2020. It was also my first time at a Maine beach and I had no idea how clean and serene they were. I guess I'm just used to all the garbage and crowds along the Jersey Shore. The only downside is that parking is a bit pricey, at $20 a pop. But if you are an early bird and can make it there before I think either 8 or 9, then parking is only $5.nnSince we came on a Tuesday (at around noon), there weren't much people around, which was super nice. The weather for that day was only forecasted at the low 70s with some clouds, but it turned out to be a great beach day. It was warm, but not sweltering. Warm enough to go in the water - but only if you're brave. The water was icy cold. But after a while, you just become numb and don't even notice it (lol). There aren't really any waves but there is a very strong current so you definitely don't want to mess around with that. I never went out further than past my stomach, especially since I don't swim very well. Even just standing there with the water up to my waist, I could feel the currents pulling me.nnThe best part of this beach is that it's only a 20-minute drive from Portland. We were visiting for the week and staying in Downtown, and didn't want to drive far to get to a beach so Ferry Beach was perfect for us. If I lived in the area, I would totally get a season pass.

My fiance and I had a very unpleasant experience with a staff member at Ferry Beach State Park. To understand the impact this had on us, here's the backstory. We were due to get married this spring, but had to reschedule due to Covid-19. We ended up scaling back our wedding to only 20 guests and it took place in a nearby local church, following all guidelines. My fiance and I looked forward to having a few pictures taken at the park afterward, since the place had special meaning to us and we have been there many times before. Once we got there, a woman approached us and asked us if we were having a wedding there. We told her we were not. We were already married and just the two of us wanted a few pictures, as we have seen people there taking pictures for the 15+ years we have been going there. She said we needed permission to be there, even though it is a public park and we were not having a wedding there. She proceeded to tell us that we needed to leave, as we did not have a photography permit and were not allowed to take any photos in the park. My fiance and I were very appalled by her behavior and the way she treated us. There are no signs at the gate (meanwhile, a group of 30 people mingled in the park together, with no distancing, a rule that was clearly marked on the signage). There is also no mention of any of these rules on Maine's state park government website. I am writing this review to warn anyone who is thinking of taking pictures there. Beware!

A great place to go to the beach. Nice clean beach with plenty of sand for the kids. It was nice soft sand as well with minimal rocks so it made walking out in the water nice. Not bad for $5 per adult.

A lot of private beaches around it so not an extensive area. However, it is a lot quieter and less busy them other beaches around.nTo enter you pay by person and not by car. Maine residents pay $5.nA lot of people with dogs. There are signs at the state park saying you can not enter with a dog. So I believe they probably entered though other beach access.
