Beautiful glass! Incredible craftsmanship. Casco Bay Glassworks is the real deal.nnThe negative reviews: One is from Alabama and complains about everything and everyone. One is from MA and complains about anyone who doesn't give her a discount, including for repairs on her Mercedes, unless it's an alternative healer, in which case she's happy to pay full price. I'm not sure why google reviews draw the nutcases, but please consider the source.

I can’t believe anyone would wish to do harm to this exceptionally skilled craftsperson selling his wares for very affordable prices here in our community. Ben is a leading figure in the Maine craft scene and his work is every bit as elegant as fine quality Murano glass, though much more affordable. Hopefully most Mainers and visitors to our state will see this quality and value for what they are and will share their impressions publicly to drown out the petty reviewers who currently rule the roost. Shame on them and kudos to a great craftsperson. We look forward to enjoying more of Ben’s work and consider it an honor to keep it in our home.

I approached Ben Coombs, the owner of Casco Bay Glassworks at a local art fair to ask for a reduced price on a small vase to which he agreed, “Yeah, sure I could do that.” However, he was packing up so he gave me his card and said to come by his studio. A week later at the studio Coombs said no, he would not give me the price he had accepted at the fair, and criticized me for “hunting him down.” He asserted that his products are for higher end customers, and that his prices must reflect that. As a local college student with limited funds and an interest in supporting local business, I was appalled by Coombs’ dishonesty and condescension. I will be sharing my experience with my “higher-end” friends and family who also enjoy supporting local businesses.
