Actually pretty cool spot. Could have records section a bit more orginized
Excellent place to pick up records. They are priced on the low end or less mostly of what you would normally find online or a dedicated record store. They're stored somewhat oddly which makes them a little cumbersome to sort through, but there are no 'on your knees' sections you'll have to stoop to see. It's a place you can spend a good hour at and see just about everything they have. They have a few tables where you can sit and look at the LPs or chat with a buddy in on the record side. The other half of the store is the coffee shop. These were some what expensive, but I guess all coffee is these days.
2020: Sad to see the records go, but there are still many used books for sale. Perkolator is very popular, it looks like they needed the record store space for more seating.nn2018: Hidden gem in Portage Park. Fair prices and a good selection. Not a big place, but easy to browse and use the listening station. Entrance is through Perkolator.
I came to the store on Monday and my friend came on Saturday around noon both times the store was locked without any notice.nnSo visiting Sputnik is waste of time, will not go again.
Coffee mocha was a little watery... Food was good
