Athens Utilities

My wife and I have been calling all day trying to accomplish a fairly simple task. We are sent straight to voicemail and are getting no response. It's been hours.

They are rude and un caring my mom was on oxygen and we wasn't even a month late and they turned our power. I went and paid the bill and it took them a week to turn it back on. But this was some years ago so I hope they have gotten better. But I doubt it.

Absolutely useless customer service and website. They can't even locate my account number in their new system and I've called about it multiple times to no avail. I honestly would avoid living anywhere this place services due to their ineptness.

They forgot to get my meter in a piece of property that has been vacated for a couple years I called and told them they forgot the meter and they snapped my pole. I called afterwards and they refused to pay for it and said the pole was “rotten”. Now I have a trailer on the lot again replaced the pole and they said it would be 2- 3 business days before the power was cut on. It has been a week I called back up there and they said they have no record of me requesting an installation. This utility service is garbage. This is probably why there are people that live off the grid. Not because they want too but because Athens utilities still hasn’t went to cut their power on. By far the worst utility company in the state of Alabama.

What a joke, too bad there isn't any choice in who you get electric from. It's 2018 and this place is stuck in 1995. You can't get anyone on the phone when you call in, and when you leave a message they will never call back. When I try to call the automated service to pay it tells me it's already paid and won't accept any more payments, then they shut my electric off for non-payment and charge a $40 reconnect fee. They don't even deserve 1 star.
