This place is so magical. So many birds, so many plants. Lovely opportunities to experience nature. One of the top places to take someone who is visiting Alabama for the first time. So sad that it is temporarily closed, but there's hope for the future! Alabama Audubon and other conservation groups are working to get it back open for all to enjoy.
Love this park but it has not appeared to be taken care of very much in the last year or so. Also is closed right now. Wish it was open. I hope someone reads this who can do something to open it back up. Please.
It's a while that I visited. At the moment only volunteers are allowed on the property. A storm earlier in 2020 did some major damage and different organizations are helping to get this wonderful park open, again. Contact Cahaba River Society, The Nature Conservancy, or Audubon Birmingham if you want to help.
A gem, even though, with lots of fallen trees and overgrown trails, it is in a bit of a state of disrepair (or one can just see it as nature reclamation, I suppose.) Wonderful little spot for some social distance, however.nnWith recreational and natural areas in such short supply around here, the dysfunctional state should do a better job of promoting this place. Road signs would be a nice first touch.
My son asked his girlfriend to marry him last year at the top of the bird tower. Our family loves this park!!!
