Great place to go at Coopers Rock to get some peace and quiet. there are a number of trails here where you can walk either in the woods or through open fields. The area does close at dusk and there are no restroom facilities at the Clay Furnace Trailhead. There are a limited number of picnic tables and ample parking. If the timing is right you may be able to observe a variety of wildlife including deer, black bears and an occasional rattlesnake. You need to be sure that you have good hiking shoes as the trail to the furnace can be rough in places.

It served its purpose as a parking lot at the trailhead of the Clay Furnace trail. What more could you ask for? FIVE STARS!
