Joy is THE BEST!! This is the coolest flying operation with the best Texas hospitality. I was referred here because I am going to buy a vintage taildragger and this was the place to go per local instructors. Joy and her awesome husband Jerry (wizard airplane mechanic and a pilot himself) have such a friendly operation and GREAT instruction. I'm a former F-16 pilot and take my training seriously and want it to be professional. That's the ONLY way Joy does it. And if she makes a radio call while we're flying, invariably one of her former students will recognize her and say 'hi'--this is the respect this Texas Lady carries. Even doing acrobatics, she will not tolerate a lopsided loop or a crooked cuban eight. If you want to learn to fly or are adding a type rating or a new skill like acro, and you want to do it the RIGHT way, this is THE place.

I learned to fly Citabrias with Joy 20 years ago. She is a superb flight instructor, always sensing teachable moment opportunities.

I have 40 years of flying experience and Joy Bowden is the best flight instructor I have ever experienced. If you want to learn to fly and have a lot of fun learning to fly classic, conventional gear airplanes, schedule a lesson at Texas Taildraggers and request Joy Bowden as your flight instructor.
