Definitely a must-see if you're looking for a nice short trail and a great view. The drive up to this place was stunning as well. There are a few benches at the top. Bring a little picnic and enjoy the view and the wildlife. Don't forget to add your name to the guest book in the box at the peak!
Easy to find, plenty of parking. The walk up the short trail is on a wife path, minimal climb, and very well marked. The Highpointers guide book lists two false summits, and one is clearly marked with signage about a third of the way up the trail.nI liked the signage with the explanation about the property owners. They graciously allow summit seekers to traverse their property, and have for many years. This makes the route short and easier, accessible for everyone.
Short walk from church parking lot. If you hike to False Mountain, take care not to follow the trees marked with blue and red. The overlook is blocked in by the tree line. Very nice visit.
Loved this hike up the only mountain in Louisiana! Sign the notebook at the top!
Easy to follow trail to the top of the highest natural point in Louisiana. Access and park at Mt. Zion Church. Can be a bit muddy after rain. The elevation gain is roughly 140 feet. There is a sign and a small overlook at the peak. The hike is roughly 0.8 miles each way or about 1.6 miles round trip.nSee attached for photos taken by my drone.
