Superior Court Clerk

I needed some info from Lowndes County Court House; I'm now in Alabama. I googled phone numbers, and looked at customer reviews...they were not good and I was more than a little worried about getting the info that I needed.nBlessings are there people, because Latoya Brown, an associate for the Superior Court Clerk, was so incredibly patient, kind, and empathetic with my needs, and she actually was able to locate the info that I needed. Called to ask simple questions about what we needed to bring in to record the sale of our home to my parents. She was rude, dismisive, unhelpful, & continually suggested “she could not offer legal advice.” Except the BASIC info I was asking about was the SAME info that is available online to anyone & everyone - and is NOT legal advice. It took me 30 minutes of searching GA state websites & a phone call to another - nicer clerk- to get the info she spent 15 mins refusing to give. All we needed to know was where to go & what to bring. I had to call another - helpful & knowledable clerk of court at another county to get the BASIC information. She acted as though she couldn’t be “bothered” with doing her job- which is to record freaking PUBLIC records for taxpayers. Lastly- she needs a minimal lesson on civility, along with what constistues “legal advice” verusus public information on regulatory requirements.nnIf you can go in when she’s out sick- your day will be much brighter.nnOn a final note (in the hopes that she reads this):nnI left out your name as a courtesy, but you know who you are since everyone has to deal with you when buying/selling houses &/or recording deeds/titles.nnOn a personal note:nLife is hard enough without going out of your way to be rude & uncooperative. Try to be decent; maybe you’ll see some benefits you didn’t realise existed.nnOn a professional note:ngovernment officials like you are public servants who are paid to perform public duties.nIf you refuse to provide public information- not legal advice - but basic information like:n“...Warranty deeds executed in Georgia must also have two witnesses. In order to record a warranty deed, it must be accompanied by a completednPT-61 form- a real estate transfer tax form.....”nnThen you are NOT performing YOUR DUTIES.nnAnd this is exactly the info I asked you about which you refused to give - claiming it was “legal advice” - which it CLEARLY IS NOT.nnIt’s just governmental & bureaucratic paperwork - which is what you are responsible for in Lowndes County.
