We just returned home from Lydia Mountain, where we rented the Sugar Shack for our 10th Anniversary. We had rented this cabin 4 previous times, one of which was our honeymoon. We never had any problems the previous 4 times, but this time was quite disappointing. We had mice every night, and I had to keep setting traps every night, not the way you want to spend your Anniversary weekend. I have pictures and video if needed. We tried twice to reach the owners/ management, once Friday morning speaking with the lady in the office that does reservations, and Saturday morning with the lady working the front desk at the lodge, with no success. Seems that now, the only priority is the lodge.nI will say the only real highlight was the restaurant at the lodge. The food was fantastic and the two nice young ladies serving breakfast and the nice lady serving dinner were all exceptional.nA couple other things about the cabin, the carpenter bees have taken over the deck until evening, the bathroom cabinet door had a broken latch, and the hot tub cover and hold down bar are in need of repair.nSo needless to say, after having paid close to $200 a night (after taxes and fees) to empty mouse traps, we won't be back and we sure won't recommend Lydia Mountain.nI'm sure this won't last long on here, but it will on Google.
Absolutely beautiful place, great atmosphere, the lodge is new and gorgeous. We were in the Presidential suite, the decor was amazing, a lot of care was put in to make it incredibly interesting. Only caveat is that there's no one there to welcome you or explain anything. The rooms are not well marked, hard to find your room. No one to call to ask questions, they simply dont answer the phone. We arrived Thursday evening and restaurant was already closed at 6pm, so we ate our picnic lunch.... a bit disappointing.nBut... then when you finally settle in and see the view, you forget all the frustration. So happy we spent the night here. We would definitely come again!
This is my happy place. My husband and I have rented 2 different cabins and the experience is always great! I can't wait for the next time.
Our stay was amazing!! The cabin and the views were beautiful!!! The staff were very friendly and went above and beyond to assure our stay was perfect. Travis went the extra mile and we appreciate him so much for everything he did for us. We definitely recommend Lydia's Mountain lodge and we will be going back very soon.
We stayed at Mountain Paradise cabin. The cabin is beautiful–clean and spacious, beautiful mountain view. The king size bed was extremely comfortable. There is a wood burning fireplace, hot tub and pool table. It has so much potential but items need to be addressed for a 5 star rating. The wood supplied was unseasoned or wet and would not burn. Purchased Duraflame log to help catch fire to the wood given to no avail–it just turned black; very distressful given the fireplace was one of the reasons we chose this particular cabin. The futon is so uncomfortable to sit on-can’t even imagine sleeping in it! The pool table cue sticks were all broken but one. The kitchen had some supplies, but things like salt, pepper, foil would have been a nice touch. We feel that when you’re paying more than $200 per night for a place to stay, you shouldn’t have to haul your trash to a location that you have to drive to. We had to put trash inside the car with our belongings. We were instructed to strip the sheets off the bed and put them in the bathroom with the used towels. We feel this is a task that should be handled by housekeeping. My husband left a pair of pants in the dresser drawer and although we have called repeatedly since our arrival home, no one has gotten back to us. Other than those issues, our stay was very enjoyable. Soaking in the hot tub and sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch was very peaceful and relaxing. Would love to come back here but would hope these issues would be resolved before we return.
