Best Western Windsor Inn & Suites

Where do I start? This past weekend, I booked a double bed suite at the Best Western Windsor Inn and Suites for four of us traveling including two children. I noticed the prices were marked up from their average nightly rate due to a car racing event in town. So, our room rate was $249 per night in Danville, Virginia--a little steep for a facility that has limited amenities. Since we were in town for a funeral and needed the room, we settled on the hotel.nnAfter driving 13 hours, we arrived and checked into our room late night, it was a pungent cigarette odor primarily in the bathroom. I notified the front desk clerk who tried to accommodate us with the only suite left on the first floor, but we were all too tired and the other room wasn’t much better.nnThe phone in the room didn’t work and there was one remote control for both televisions.nnThe carpet was worn out and had stains. The following morning, we requested additional clean towels from housekeeping, and they accommodate us. Since we would not be ready in time for housekeeping to clean our room; the housekeeper asked us to leave our used towels and trash outside of our door in the hallway so they can pick it up.nnWhen we left our room, we noticed housekeeping was still finishing up on our floor and they could clearly see our towels and trash bag up the hallway. When we returned to our rooms (two hours later), the housekeeping crew was gone but our trash and towels remained outside of the room.nnThe young lady who worked the front desk, Keisha was sweet and hospitable. She took our towels and trash while apologizing for the inconvenience. Also, she said she would inform her manager about the cigarette smell and broken phone in our room. Later, I received a call from the area manager who said a staffer would be coming to take care of the cigarette odor and to replace the phone. Keisha shows up with a can of air freshener and another phone. She sprayed the bathroom and that was it--two minutes of fragrance to drown out the odor.nnI asked the hotel clerk if she would ask the manager to accommodate my government employee rate instead of paying for this overpriced room and it was ‘crickets’.nnOn their website they advertised a fitness room and indoor pool. I went to go for a workout and found out they haven’t had a fitness for a few years. They suggested a workout room at the Hampton Inn. One last observation, if you’re trying to remain safe in this pandemic, they don’t enforce a mask mandate. There was a wedding party dinner in the meeting room where guests did not wear their masks when there were clearly signs posted around the property. The staff was told not to enforce masks--although it could be a health risks to other guests. Don’t expect the indoor pool to be open for this very reason.nnKeep it moving when it comes to this Best Western. Not worth staying past a one-night stay. The front desk staff is friendly, but management must do better.

Toilet paper was low, and there were only 4 Kleenex left in the box when we got there. The shower gave off what I can only describe as a high pitch squeal. Sheets on bed are relatively thin. Refrigerator wasn’t cold, our food went bad. Unless there is an option to make it colder that I missed.nnReceptionist was super nice and friendly, however. Solid hotel overall, definitely not worth what I paid though, in my personal opinion.

My family and I stayed for 11 nights. All staff we encountered were kind, friendly and helpful. The room was clean when we arrived and cleaned well each day. Larger room made our stay comfortable.

Man this is definitely a 5 star hotel great rooms very clean and the staffs makes you feel like family not just another guest! I will definitely choose them again!

The rooms were not properly cleaned before my stay. There were cigarette ashes left on a window seal in which I was charged a $250 smoking fee. When both my wife and my son are allergic to cigarette smoke... I even offered to pay for and come take a nicotine test to prove we did not smoke in our room.... I will never stay there again
