MedExpress Urgent Care

Edited: Changed from 2 stars to 4 stars - The staff was quick and professional, the only problem was I had to wait outside in my car to be see.nOlder/original review - I am very disappointed with the service I received at the Danville Virginia MedExpress. I am suffering very much with a terrible allergic reaction to poison oak or something of that nature, and I went to MedExpress for help and didn't get it. A few years ago I had the same issue with poison oak and other medical service gave me a shot which helped a lot with the swelling, itching, and pain, so that is what I asked MedExpress for. When I finally saw the doctor she made it very obvious that she was in a hurry. She spoke very fast and made me feel very rushed. The first thing she said to me is, she is not going to give me the shot because it would not help me. I told her it helped me the last time, but she totally ignored me. She looked in my ears and mouth, gave me a prescription for prednisone, and quickly exited the room. A few minutes later she came back and told me to visit was over and escorted me to the checkout area. My entire visit last about ten minutes (if that). I have been taking the medication as directed and so far I feel just as bad as I did yesterday if not worse. My face is still very swollen, itchy, and painful. I feel like I wasted my time and what little money I have by going to MedExpress. I only give them two stars because the check in and check out people were very polite to me, but that doesn't help make me feel better because the doctor I saw (Johnna Thomas) did not help me at all. I will NEVER go back to MedExpress and I will NEVER EVER recommend any of my friends or family go there.

This is by far the sorriest medical office open. It needs to close down. The staff there does not want to be there. They do not want to do their job. They do not want to provide medical care to sick patients, which is what their job is. They treat the patients like they are a bother to them. The patients can tell them what is going on with them and it just goes in one ear and out the other. They treat you like you're just complaining, like there's nothing really wrong with you. Who are they to decide that? The care there is just sorry. They don't deserve any type of payment or reimbursement from anyone's insurance or Medicaid or Medicare.

Took me two and a half hours to get tested for COVID-19 nurses had attitudes.

The staff are friendly. One lady called me “darlin’” several times. Everyone tells me that “it’s a southern thang.” I would prefer terms of endearment be reserved for my loved ones not professionals.

1 hour and 38minute wait just to be seen by a PA not a doctor which only took 3min to come up with a diagnosis was absolutely uncalled for, completely unethical and simply unprofessional. The word Express should not be used to name this business - pathetic.
