If you're looking for armor, this is the place. Located in Danville, VA, this private collection is massive, and certainly for the history enthusiast, the veteran and his family, and the weapons enthusiasts. We came on a Saturday in April and thought that 2.5 hours would be enough. Oh no. Plan on at least 3-4 hours because there are lots of things to see. WW II Era uniforms, pins, brass, patches, vintage cars, weapons, a Huey, War of the Worlds spacecraft, and of course, the tanks. By close to end of the day, museum employees will be roving around in bicycles to take stock of the people that are left and to make announcements overhead about the closing time of the museum. Did I say bicycles? Yes, bicycles. The place is so big, you need an easy way to move around if you work there. $15 adult, $10 for a child 12 and under. Child under 6 is free. Special events such as Tankers Experience this coming April 24, and Flame thrower event in June costs more and usually happens on the third or fourth Saturday each month. Certainly worth the drive.

WOW!!! We had a wonderful time at the museum. There is a fantastic inventory of tanks, uniforms, and more. This was enjoyed not only by my son and me who both love this material, but it was also enjoyed by the rest of the family. We opted to have our 16 year old son do an hour long climb on and explore four tanks, and he loved it. Dan gave him and the rest of the family a thorough overview of the use of the tanks as well as their significance in history. We would encourage most anyone to take the time to experience this history, you will be glad you did.

Exceptional collection. Truly an honor to see the owner and thank him personally for preserving these pieces. I am thankful that it's only about 90 minutes away. We'll be back many, many times.

Very interesting, and something different to do. Loved watching the kids look at all the great war equipment. The prices were pretty good to.

My family had a great time on our visit. The place is huge with dozens of vehicles from small trucks to huge tanks. Definitely worth springing for the VIP pass so you can climb on and in some of the tanks while the knowledgeable guide tells you about the tanks. Be sure to wear walking shoes and dress for the season (no ac/heat). Also, don’t forget to check out the events calendar and the actual tanks parts and pieces you can buy (we got a grenade storage case).
