It's a nice first step once you're in the mountains of the parkway outside of Roanoke. Looking down on the quarry isn't all that interesting but looking up to the north provides some great views.
This is a wonderful place on the Blue Ridge Parkway to take pictures of sunsets.
Great view, cooler than in town, and a nice picnic area with peace and quiet.
Lots and lots of trees. Some bushes. Don't go near the edge. Long way down
I have always loved the blueridge parkway. My family from Copperhill Va worked on the Parkway as it was being built and my PaPa did a few miles of the stone work. The Quarry is where my Grandmother's family worked in the offices and my Granddaddy started his own dumptruck business.
