After a two year hiatus, the Winthrop Ferry is back, with a new boat and updated schedules, plus streamlined ticket buying process. Park for free at the Town Landing and zip into Boston on this new all-weather vessel, the Valkyrie. It takes less than 20 minutes to make the crossing to Rowes Wharf, and if you didn't purchase tickets in advance you can buy them on board with no penalty, just $8.50 each way, and a senior fare of $6.50.
The Winthrop ferry was on time and we enjoyed the ride. We made stops at the ica and the aquarium before proceeding to Quincy. The staff were friendly and safe.
The Town of Winthrop ferry, the Valkyrie is enjoying its second season gaining praise from the increasing number of riders from Winthrop and surrounding towns and many international tourists who are guests at many of the Winthrop Lodgings. The Captains and crew welcome all newcomers to join them on the twenty minute trip to Boston.Experience the climate controlled cabin and the panoramic view of the harbor islands and the magnificent Boston skyline. The Valkyrie awaits your departure. Please check the schedule and pricing on the town website.
Fast, fun, and inexpensive. No easier or less expensive way to get from Winthrop to Boston.
A great connection to Boston. We enjoyed the crossing a lot and is in a great value for money. Do not worry about the cash machine, you can also pay on board with the credit card. For the return trip simply the names are noted, very friendly.
