We really enjoyed our travels around the southern parts of the Big Island on this day, December 21st, 2020! The travels started in Kona, south points, Volcano National Park (to see the new eruption) with the highlight of stopping here to view the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction! This over 5500 altitude gave us the perfect viewing of this once in a lifetime event!

Always clean bathrooms. Always clean area. In other words there is ppl there thst are constantly keeping the area free of any rubbish. Nice rest stop on the way to Hilo or on the way to Kona. Gives the kids to step outside and play on the playground. Kinda cold...atleast for me lol but then again im from Hawaii... And No shady hooligans hanging out like some of the Hilo parks...*cough* lincon park *cough*

The cabins are the perfect place to stay when you know the weather will be nice and you're looking to go for a hike or atv riding (in the designated trails of course!) in the day and stargaze at night.nnWe stayed in cabin 4. It's a not insulated, so bring a small heater or very warm clothing and sleeping bags. There is one medium (4 person) and one small (2 person) room. You need to bring camping mattresses or cots since there are no beds. I'd also recommend ant spray because there was a lot of ants in our cabin. The bathroom is separate from the shower and they are right off the kitchen/dining/living area. There's a convection stove and pots and a pan provided, but bring a green scrubber and some comet or ajax. Food will get super stuck and it's SO hard to get off (If you have a secret, please share! We tried everything, it's the only thing that worked for us!). The only bummer was having to check out so early (9am) because you also have to clean the place including wiping, sweeping, and mopping the house.nnThere are beautiful views all around and we had baby sheep roaming around in the early morning!
