Pahoa Public Library

Its cheaper to buy used books online.nIf you check out books here, expect to get charged fees and lots of them. For instance I checked out a book (it had some minor damage on it, a few water marks that had been overlooked), it was so minor I did not bother pointing it to the librarians. I tried reading the book, but it was really boring so I returned it with reading more than a few pages. So imagine my surprise to get charged the cost of the whole book, claiming it was damaged. I could have bought this book for a fraction of the price on amazon. I wish I could say this was an isolated incident but it seems to be a typical occurrence.nNormally I am lover of libraries, but this by far the worst public library I have ever used. The fees are ridiculous and unjustified, the hours are limited, not even open on the weekends, the library is not child friendly, mothers with young children are asked to leave for having noisy children. All around a terrible library. I am cutting up my library card and from now on I will be buying all my books online....i'll probably save money and at least I will get to keep the book.

I love this library. They find all books I want even if they don't have it, they get it from any branch. Always helpful and very friendly.

I loved to go to the pahoa library all through high school!!!

Love the public library here but it needs better parking

We go there at least once a week. It's a great little place, quiet and friendly.
