Hilo Public Library

Undoubtedly, one of the finest library‘s within the Hawaii State library system. They are always helpful, if you have questions, they’ll get you the answers.. It’s just the best!

Not really impressed. I came here to print out a couple documents, and as I went in, realized you needed a library card to use the WIFI. I thought, oh this is really bizarre, NEVER have I EVER needed a library card to connect to wifi at a PUBLIC library, I’ve always been able to sit out side the library when it’s closed and connect. So I decide to get a library card, and they charge anyone that’s not a resident! Needless to say, I didn’t pay to have a library card here, I have been volunteering on the island this month, and this sure was a way to make me feel good about all the volunteering I did in this state for the past month... this should be be renamed Hawaii Private Library systems. Hawaii has the worst “public”library system I have seen in the country.

Love this library. Might be my favorite of all the islands and in each of the cities. Beautiful setup and courtyard. Very friendly and helpful staff. Computers and printers available and a nice assortment of books and reading material.

Not many public places are good here in Hilo but this is the best library in the state!nPeople are professional and kind. Also the children section is clean and nice.nThere are many events and my favorite one is the book sale. I was impressed of the price and the selections. Mahalo!nI only give 4 stars because they are close on Monday.
