Rode my mtn bike out Beach Rd to Mermaid Ponds this morning to collect white coral scraps for my aquarium. Always a good ride, and a beautiful destination.

Visit at your own Risk: Do NOT leave any valuables. Do NOT lock your car or leave your windows UP here. Your car will get broken into. Our window was smashed, battery disconnected in an attempt to remove it, and one tire was flattened like they attempted to steal the rims. Leave your car completely open if you must visit and take all of your things. We fortunately took all of our bags with us but were almost stranded without service if not for some locals that helped us reconnect the battery and change out our flat. Police arrived almost immediately for a car that was on fire just up the road from where we were parked, possibly due to being broken into and tampered with. The officer advised us that this area frequently has break-ins.
