I was 8 minutes late to my meter. I have one class a week on campus and feel it is messed up to still charge hundreds of dollars for parking at a campus we pay THOUSANDS of dollars to attend... especially during a pandemic. I seriously think they sit in a office and wait for your meter to expire and run down as quick as they can to fine you. UNR should reevaluate how they treat their students because right now I feel like a dollar sign.
I had hand surgery and was having trouble opening a door to get to my meter and leave campus. They seen this and still wrote me a $20 ticket for an expired meter. I went to appeal and they were closed. They are only open on Wednesdays due to the pandemic. They also wont allow you to appeal UNLESS you pay the fee first so they are guaranteed your money. I couldnt make it in on another Wednesday so I mailed a check and the filled out appeal form like I was told. Two months later, they claimed they didnt recieve it, doubled my fee, refused to listen to my appeal and said too bad, better cancel the check. Thank you Parking Services, you guys really try to screw over the students who have to come to campus during a pandemic.
I would give UNR Parking Services no stars, but that option is not available. I have gone to UNR for my undergraduate and now graduate career (8+ years!) and they progressively become more greedy. I have paid them close to $1K in fees! They do not care about students! They overcharge for parking permits, basically wait at your car until your meter runs out, tag you with a double fine if you are unable to pay in time, and make sure you can’t register for your classes until they get their money. We are students!! We already pay insane amounts for tuition and now you tack on these extra charges. You should be ashamed of yourselves!
Easy parking.
Parking services was by far the worst part of my experience at UNR. I understand the need to enforce parking in many cases, but they do so at absurd times. Parking services is ticketing students even now during the midst of a pandemic, even though campus is mostly closed and there is an abundance of parking.
