Earlier this year, they charged me with a parking ticket. Sounds pretty normal right? I graduated two years ago. I don’t own a car. They had the nerve to insist that I needed to prove to them that the charge was made in error. Eventually a supervisor called me back and waived the fee- but get this, the bursars office still insisted I pay a fee on the waived ticket. You can’t make up this level of greed.

I live at Lobo Village (Off-Site dorms) The shuttle service that is provided is absolute GARBAGE. Not convenient for students because the odds of you arriving late to your class is high. Would recommend getting yourself a bike before you rely on a low budget shuttle service.

UNM PATS not only booted my car because they “thought” my permit was forged. They left the sticker with a massive amount of tape on it, ruining my brand new window. Christine in the front office also tried her best to make sure I paid the citation and didn’t get to appeal. (Because you can’t pay first and then appeal, it won’t allow you) although she sent me to pay and multiple times later of asking how to appeal, someone else finally told me that I can’t pay first. Which she did not mention purposely. Additionally as I was waiting for the boot to be removed, Christine continued speaking to other employees in the office about my citation. As I was sitting on the bench she’s speaking about it and raises her voice to say “it’s very misleading”, to undermine me as I’m sitting in the office. The management was rude, & not cooperative. On top of that, before I was pulled in and blamed for a “invalid parking permit” I was told multiple times by the front desk staff that nobody could see what was wrong with my permit. Even after Christine, and the front desk staff looked at all information I was told again “we don’t see the problem so we’ve called someone else”. Not until that person came Christine was then dominant in the fact that my permit was invalid. They’re not here to make parking sensible and easy going, they’re here to make profit off anything they can.

Only students who live on campus can get passes for parking structures and adequate lots. The Lomas structure is NEVER full, so I don't understand that. In addition, the structures and good lots (Like B lot) cost near $1000 per year, which is absurd. I have to pay tuition, you know. They give you a $20 ticket if you don't pay $2 per hour at their pay stations. But, sometimes these are full too. Too many times have I wasted money parking on campus. There's a park a little down Lomas (eastward), and it's open from dawn until 10PM I believe. To all of you who may be reading this, it's about a 10 minute walk from the park to Lapo. I have parked here many times and never had a problem.
