US Army Corps of Engineers - Conchas Dam Visitor Center

Conchas is the first dam and the most beautiful lake in the Albuquerque District. Constructed in the 1930's Conchas is a testament to what can be achieved when people and communities come together and work for a single purpose, a common good. The purpose at the time was to capture and provide water for farmers in the area. The good is that benifit is still alive and well today. The US Army Corps of Engineers releases water to down stream hard working farmers. America was built on the backs of can do farmers and Conchas is a standing symbol to all that is good even in the most trying times. I encourage everyone to visit Conchas and make sure y’all’s request a tour of the dam, its an experience you wont forget.
