Tucumcari Muni Airport-Tcc

Shot the approach and refueled. Manager met us and made sure we knew where everything was and helped us get our planning done for the next leg of our cross country trip. He let us park the plane in the shade/hangar while we did our planning and IFR clearance filing. Didn’t expect red carpet treatment at an airport like this but certainly felt like we were taken care of and welcome. Self serve fuel operation was very accessible and close enough to a hangar for push back if shelter needed.

I get it... small, remote airport. But typically a place like that has friendly people. This guy was completely anti-social. Seemed like we interrupted him when we landed even though I called 5 days ahead and the day prior. Being a military aircraft, I wanted to make sure we could be supported. Luckily, he said he did get more Jet A a few days prior. Won't stop here again unless there are no other options.

I planned a trip to California from Oklahoma for maintenance on a spray plane. Tucumcari was my first fuel stop. Great fuel prices. Runways in every direction. Steve the manager there was very helpful and a local pilot that was very knowledgeable about the local area. He was more than happy to fuel my plane, while I went inside to warm up and get some coffee. He offered a courtesy car if I needed to go eat, and let me know that there were plenty of hotels to stay overnight and they would hangar my plane. Great stop.

Great, quiet airport in eastern New Mexico. Stopped through on the way to Kansas City. Friendly airport attendant pumped our gas and chatted with us for a few.
