El Rio Theatre

The El Rio Theater in Springerville, AZ -opened 1915, one of the oldest continuously operating movie houses in the US. Made of adobe! After 99 years, converted to digital in 2014. Preserved nearby in the wonderful Springerville historical museum is the original screen cover, with century-old local ads, plus more details on the history of the El Rio.

This is an old school theater. Very long and narrow with a stage in front. Built in early 1900s. The best thing about this theater is the prices. Admission is $6 for an adult. We got a water bottle, medium popcorn and some Junior mints for another 7. Beyond this it's very uncomfortable. Old seats probably near original with no drink holder. There is no leg room whatsoever as the seats are very close together. It was a nostalgic event but the movie couldn't end soon enough because I was so uncomfortable. I can say I've been there and done that and don't need to go back.

Great historical theater that shows up to date movies. Great to have an option in RV. Yes, seats are old, but it's still great.

It's a nice place to see a movie, and it's the oldest movie theater in Arizona, built in 1913.
