Jersey City Free Public Library: Heights Branch

Ok library, can be a little noisy. But the downstairs is sometimes quieter for studying and reading. It’s a small space so sound carries a little more. Nice little local library though the librarians are very nice and helpful.

Love this library.....you can read peacefully.....for reading use basement of library, they have silent study area there. Only one thing, they have no power plugs at every table. Kind and useful staff. Thank you.

While designed as a law library; this library is a terrific library for the everyday layman. Always ovwrstaffed; there are no shortages of people to help you. They are kind, decent, friendly people and pleasant to work with. They have public computers and ample working space. Very under utilized. Highly recommended.

I don’t think I have EVER experienced such rude and deliberately mean treatment towards library patrons at any library I have visited. I am well aware the library closes at 5pm on Friday. I had seconds left to finish downloading a large file on my laptop that I was downloading for the past hour. I was already packed and standing up leaning over my laptop so that once my download is complete I can then leave. It was 4:57, I had the last seconds of the download left on my computer. Your custodian was towering over me staring at me and telling me the library is closed. I responded that I know as he can clearly see I am packed and about to leave. But he was just glaring at me and said that I need to leave in such a vile manner. Never have I ever experienced someone speaking to library patrons in such a way. Complete lack of professionalism and no way to speak to anyone. I have also worked at a library before which closed at 2am. Never have I spoken to any patrons that way and we always closed at the right time, not demeaning and talking down to patrons and yelling at them to get out. I am so disgusted and disappointed in that employee’s behavior.

They used to send notice 3 days in advance when return date is closer.. We relied on it .. But in the past few months, they do it on and off and we missed the due date couple of times paying fine.. Either send the email regularly or don't send it so we will take care of it.
