Have had good experiences with the Bloomington police since I moved here last summer. Was pulled over last fall in the middle of the night with a headlight out. The female officer was really nice, just wanted to check for insurance and make sure I was sober, was on my way in 2 minutes with a warning. Had to call EMS about a month ago due to chest pains and the officer who showed up was very helpful. Had to wait a while for EMS so glad he was there!
I had a payable traffic violation in 2017. I was pulled over due to a illegal right turn. Yes I was wrong. I was traveling with my six-year-old daughter. Again it was a payable warrant, meaning you can pay that directly to the police officer or go straight to City Hall and pay that. The police officer decided that it was the best practice to take me in custody and bring me downtown and separate me from my daughter. This was traumatic for my daughter. We are two years passed and she still has fear of police. The decision by the police officer is their own and they can own it. They won’t help you at all, just transfer all your calls and no one listens. Protect and serve right? That’s a joke.

I was extremely dissapointed with how I was talked to by a Bloomington PD Detective yesterday. She called me at 6 AM in the morning for a records request, (huh?), then proceeded to throw baseless accusations around that seemingly materialized out of thin air. I found this odd since almost every law enforcement officer ive interacted with has been courteous, patient, and helpful. I hope things get better for you ud83dudc4d
