Loved this gym. Well kept. Clean gym and locker room. Friendly staff and cleaning stations well stocked. Machines/equipment blocked off to maintain social distancing.

I really liked this location before the pandemic and found the staff friendly; I’ve been a member at three Planet Fitness locations for a decade now. Unfortunately, my recent interaction over billing has been very disappointing. I received the yearly $39 charge on my credit card today; confused why I was being charged, I immediately called. I was told I received a notification in September that membership fees would resume at the beginning of November. I went and found that email - it was titled “Planet Fitness Belleville, MI Opening September 21” - no title about billing changes. Moreover, 7 paragraphs in was the notice of that change, below health protocols and a video. I asked to cancel my membership as I still do not feel safe going to a large gym with record breaking pandemic numbers occurring again, but was told I would not receive a refund. This is extraordinarily disappointing. I received one notice hidden at the bottom of an email, called the day I was billed, and they refuse to refund me. I work in the travel industry, and all the companies I work with are constantly sending reminders and refunding customers to make them feel safe and comfortable. Sadly, Planet Fitness does not seem to care. They have lost a member of over a decade.

The place appeared to be clean. I only went in to use a treadmill because it is too cold to walk outside. I wiped the machine down before and after. I had to take my mask off a couple times because I could not get enough air through the stupid mask. No complaints about the gym though.

So I've spent the last year thinking my subscription was canceled. Haven't visited in that time, and never intended to come back. However apparently my account was merely frozen and then they decided to unfreeze it right before the yearly club fee was due. Whether or not I'm right or wrong, I don't think its absurd to think I shouldn't have to pay for a service I never use. Someone had to reactivate my account, and whoever did could definitely see how often I checked in. Do not sign up for this buisness, they advertise low rates, then add on yearly fees, which automatically renew.
