Looked good from the outside. Unfortunately, the site was closed due to COVID-19. ud83dude1f

We love all things John Deere and this did not disappoint! The blacksmith was neat to see and the history of it all. Also the actual spot where he worked!!

Great place to visit!! Great historical recreation of an important pioneers life. Without the John Deere plow the prairie might not have been tamed. Great home filled with historical treasures. There is a short film and a blacksmith demonstration as well as an archeological dig. The gardens were lovely as well. This place is well worth a stop on your travels.

This is FREE! Beautiful grounds and a very detailed overview of John Deere's life and his work. The Blacksmith demonstration was fantastic and a must see. A very small gift shop with Deere related toys, some blacksmith crafts (small items) and some t-shirts. Couple this with a visit to the Reagan Boyhood Home in Dixon.

I admit I was a bit skeptical when my husband said we were stopping here, but I was so pleasantly surprised! We went by the Blacksmith demonstration which was fascinating and then we got a tour of the original Deere house. It was a great little trip back in history with lots of gorgeous landscape. Sophia was a lovely tour guide, so ask for her! And the root beer from the gift shop was tasty.
