This is a horrendous business and never, ever support it. My mom was a tenant here for over 20 years and the building manager made false promises and completely dishonored the relationship that was built over that time period.nnMy mother is a self-employed immigrant woman who speaks English as a second language and like many in her situation, could not afford a lawyer - she believes trust and relationships are fundamental to any business interaction, and Spoerlein Commons and its parent company Whitestone REIT absolutely does not - both have indisputably demonstrated they are not advocates for small business owners and behave as the caricature of evil corporations. A year after my mom's lease ended, I presume because they have no tenants to extract money from, they went after my mother with a lawsuit for a situation that was settled verbally with the building manager almost 5 years ago for an obscene amount that emptied her savings.nnAs a soon-graduate of a top 5 MBA program, I intend to be a force in the corporate world that punishes this type of behavior. I will ensure, with the tools for honest reviews, to make as public as possible the distasteful business practices of both Spoerlein Commons and more importantly, Whitestone REIT. Stay away.
