When we fist moved in I did not notice speed limit change from 40 to 30 miles/hour. We told the office we are new to the area and he let us go with a warning. After this I remembered the sudden change in speed limit and the pleasant experience stayed with us regarding the police officers in this town.
Hoffman cops must be so bored. This is a one star review. All these cops do is drive on Algonquin road with constant on radar. They don’t actually do their jobs and visually estimate a vehicle’s speed. They just go w/ what their radar gun says. I got a ticket when I wasn’t even speeding. I know I wasn’t, I had a radar detector and picked him up .8 miles away. He speeds up faster than I ever went that day and gets right up behind me. What kind of cop starts the conversation with are you good? Not a my name is... with the HEPD. I immediately denied speeding and within 10sec he said I’ll be right back with your ticket. Barely allowed me to say anything. I had GPS evidence of me going 1mph over at the time of the incident, inadmissible in court. I was essentially robbed of 400 dollars HEPD is full of liars and thieves
I grew up in Des Plaines and very involved and experienced with the police activity. Hoffman PD is very in inexperienced and I was targeted during a traffic stop when I was running late and ticketed regardless of environmental factors. But cops aren’t intelligent enough to understand certain situations. It’s not like rocket scientist are part time law enforcement. Until next time Hoffman PD when ur looking for a payoff.
