I can count the times I've been to Montgomery and not visited Southern Comfort on one hand. This is certainly a mainstay of Southern Montgomery and worth the drive. Come as hungry as you want - the dishes are generous and done just right.
Knowledgeable staff, nice variety. Great chicken and smoked pork. Baked beans were very fresh and tasty. Definitely would return to try other items.
This place was phenomenal. Food was perfect, warm smoked pork BBQ, fried green tomatoes that were perfectly breaded and crispy. And the wait staff was by far the best I've ever seen. Each person assisted the other and someone didn't pass by my table without checking on me. I can't brag about it enough.
Service was very poor. No refill on drinks. Food was only fair, not exceptional at all and very over priced. We detoured off I-65. Not worth it. Stick with Cracker Barrel which was our other choice but wanted something local. Oh welll.... oh yes and server was rude when asking her about regional BBQ sauce.
We go here often for the best southern cooking in the area. Like any restaurant, they can have an “off” night once in a while, but for fairly consistently good food, this is your place. My favorites are the smoked pulled chicken and pork, firecracker shrimp, and truly the best chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak I’ve ever had. This place was amazing. Everything we had was delicious! Memphis ribs, fried chicken, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, Cobb salad, and especially the fried green tomatoes. All amazing and decently priced.
