Just married Saturday and on our honeymoon! Set out with our dog and our little R-pod all the way from Mississippi. We were on our way to camp at Sunset Reef in order to hike the Guadalupe peaks (because of course Pine Springs visitor center was full). Ended up spontaneously deciding to call it a night and this is where we ended up. ud83dude0a. Its a very private, secluded place, just off the interstate. Kinda eerie at night with the Dr. Suees looking trees and coyotes in the background. But it turned out to be just what we needed to reboot and finish our journey. Very easy to find, but beware the roads. Lots of potholes and huge craters. But easily navigated when careful. Only 5 minutes from gas stations and hotels. Hope this helps.
MY EXPERIENCES (02/16/2021)
2021- PITSTOP: Quiet city park where tired rv'ers can sleep overnight (48hr limit). 3.2 miles from the fwy off-ramp along (FM 600). Follow the park's paved road a short distance to around back: (No lighting there). Cannot be seen from the main road. Road short: dead ends at water's edge. Room to park for about 3 or 4 rvs within the few wooded niches along the treeline. Often empty after dark. Front gate usually open or unlocked; room to drive around it. No drinking water, toilets, nor fire pits. Class B, C, short A. Over 20' difficult to turn 'round lake side of park.

Stayed the weekend from Friday 2 Sunday morning was very pleasant has Aviation remote control Runway at the front, so needless to say there is a lot of entertainment besides fishing dock in back

Nice area but not much to see during winter. The main picnic area was filthy so they may not clean off season. The bench by the water was the bright spot in the whole park as it was both comfortable and offered a nice view of the water.
