My husband and I have waited three months before writing this review. Dr Gautsch told us that by three months he would be a distant memory in our minds. He was right…except for the fact that we are so grateful to him for the amazing job he did on my husband’s left knee. He did a total replacement and because he does a side cut instead of a cut down the front center of the knee the recovery is so much easier. No muscle cut, no tourniquet needed, no heavy sedation, done as an outpatient and you are up and walking an hour or so after surgery. Rehab is also much easier and faster.nWe live in South Georgia and had heard so many good things about Dr. Gautsch that we made the 7 hour trip to Nashville (he has an office in Nashville and Gallatin) to talk to him. After meeting him, xrays being taken, and then discussing our options – we booked the surgery. We are so glad we did! My husband’s legs are unbelievably bowed. We never thought he would find a doctor to be able to fix his leg so he didn’t limp, because when you straighten one and the other is bowed…there is a difference in length. Dr. Gautsch’s first profession was as a biomedical engineer. He was able to see what was needed and did it! Shaved the bone and lined everything up perfectly. The internal medicine doctor we use in our town had bowed legs and had knee replacement surgery on one leg. He then had to have a lift put in one shoe because they didn’t have the expertise to make them the same length. We didn’t want that.nWe rented an AirBnb house for 3 weeks so we could start physical therapy with therapists who are familiar with Dr. Gautch’s type of surgery. We really didn’t have to do that but felt more comfortable doing it. Dr. Gautch’s office then sent the protocol to our local therapists and they have been able to easily follow it. They have also made known their appreciation for how much faster my husband is rehabbing than the normal knee replacement patients they have (he is 74 years old). Now he is out doing yard work, washing the cars, and generally doing what he wants to do. Not to say he is done healing because it is a work in progress and he continues to go to the gym and stay active. From what we understand, the knee will keep getting better and better for up to a year.nThis is not a walk in the park! It is major surgery with careful caregiving for the first month. We have had some normal issues but Dr. Gautsch and his staff have been there for us and have checked on us to make sure all was going well when we did have questions or needs. We are so appreciative to them. Everything they told us has been spot on. We are so thankful!

Dr. Gautsch and his staff are such a delight. People can't believe how well I am doing so soon after same day knee replacement. He also previously repaired my shoulder which gives me no trouble at all even though it was several years ago! He is always very professional, but with a good sense of humor. He took the time to explain all aspects of his side approach knee surgery to me and it all went just as he said. His Physical Therapists were just as awesome! The staff was friendly and professional as well, eager to help in any way they could. I would highly recommend Dr. Gautsch if you need any knee or shoulder surgery!

Awesome surgeon and staff! This is my 3rd knee surgery, the other 2 were performed by another surgeon, and this was the easiest to recover from. I was out of work for 6 weeks with my previous surgeries but I am able to return to work after only 2 weeks of recovery and I feel better than I did after the previous 6 weeks of recovery. Dr Gautsch is a kind, skilled and professional surgeon. I would (and have) recommend him and his staff if you are having any knee issues.

Dr. Gautsch is amazing !!!nnI had torn my labrum in my left shoulder in May 2018 had surgery in August 2018 with another Dr. in Bowling Green, Ky.nnHave been in pain sometimes severe ever since.nDr. Gautsch repaired and corrected what the other Dr. botched on December 20 , 2019 now here I am less than 3 weeks after surgery and have NO pain and more range of motion.nOn my first visit to Gautsch he diagnosed and pinpointed the exact position of my pain and the cause of it.nnI had been back and forth to the previous Dr. so many times I have lost count as well as physical therapy at multiple locations for 6 months total.nI thought I was going to be in pain the rest of my life but with one visit to Gautsch and then Surgery I am 100% pain free !!nnI highly recommend Dr. Gautsch for any shoulder injuries on top of being a great Dr and surgeon he’s a nice guy , very polite, explains things very well and genuinely cares for his patients.nnTerry Tzoras
