Hunter Museum of American Art

The Hunter Museum of American Art is located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, around 50 kilometres northwest of Dalton.nnIts collection is focussed on a variety of American artistic styles, including that of the Hudson River School from the nineteenth century, and the early modernism of the first decades of the twentieth century.nnSituated within three buildings demonstrating very different architectural styles, works hung on its walls run from the traditional portraits of Robert Henri to the almost Dali-like paintings of Thomas Hart Benton.nnThe museum also has an expansive sculpture collection, with Alexander Calder’s ‘Pregnant Whale’ sure to bring a smile to your face.

As a wedding photographer, I am always looking forward to working at the Hunter Art Museum. This location is a total dream of a wedding venue for anyone who loves Chattanooga! It's elegant and clean with so much natural lighting, plus the patio is turned into a total fairytale with that added curtains and tule drapes. It's large enough to host large parties and the photos are always so crisp and light. I love this venue and so look forward to getting to work here again someday!

I adore this museum! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The art is gorgeous and breathtakingly detailed. The prices are excellent. If your visiting Chattanooga and looking for something to do, I will always recommend The Hunter Museum of American Art!

Great fun! Good pricing for an art museum and located in the very cool bluff district. Make sure you save some time to wander around the outside and look at the sculptures.

Very cool museum. It spans multiple buildings and each building has art that more or less matches the era of the building it's in. Great collection covering a broad diversity. Staff are attentive and helpful.
