Great school! Looking to take some flying lessons and I found this school (although it's >30min away from where I live) because it had stellar reviews. And I can see why. The trainers and everyone who works for this flight school are very professional and respectful towards everyone. Although I don't feel comfortable taking lesson due to COVID, I'm looking forward to taking lessons once the pandemic weakens!
I would highly recommend Oklahoma Aviation (OA). I worked at Oklahoma Aviation as a flight instructor for five years after I graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2013 and then as a charter pilot from 2015-2020. As a flight instructor the things that attracted me to the company were the facilities, staff, above average pay, and a diverse aircraft fleet which were almost all factory new. There were also indications that I would possibly be able to move into the jet charter side of the company after a few years.nnI stayed very busy with instruction at OA (more so than if I would have had I stayed and instructed at OU). This surprised me because I was making nearly double per hour what OU instructors were making at the time and I actually had more students than instructors at OU. With time I was fortunate to be able to get checked out in many different aircraft models to be able to train students in. Here is a brief list of some the aircraft I instructed in with OA: C162,C172SP, C172R, C182, PA28R, PA28, PA32, PA46, SR20, SR22(NA, T, TN G2-G6), C-400, COL4, BE36, M20P. I also instructed in their full motion Redbird simulator which was great for bad weather days.nnTo be successful as an instructor at OA you need to treat it as having your own business within the business and be actively pursuing leads while keeping in contact with existing students. I was very motivated to make more money and build my experience. I flew about 1100 hours a year as an instructor. Flying with OA gave me the experience and opportunity to transition into the charter side of the company and then I was eventually hired to fly for a local energy company as a captain on a new Citation XLS+ while still flying charter for OA. Looking back, the time I spent at OA was invaluable and has allowed me to establsh a solid professional foundation which will be useful throughout the rest of my aviation career.nnThe instructors, facilities, and equipment at Oklahoma Aviation are the best in the state. I would highly recommend Oklahoma Aviation to any flight instructor looking to start a career in flying. I would also recommend Oklahoma Aviation to any person who is interested in learning to fly or wanting to increase their flying skills.
Oklahoma Aviation is a well oiled machine! Their instructors are knowledgeable and courteous, and great people in general. They have an excellent support team, experienced management and late model aircraft that are very well maintained. Don't hesitate to choose the best school in Oklahoma!
I researched all the flight schools around this area, and chose Oklahoma Aviation. My reasons were mostly due to the professionalism showed by the staff (including the President when I stopped by the main office), the aircraft quality and availability, the organization of all staff, and how much they seemed to actually care and want to help. As a business owner, these are the simple things that I look for and it confirmed for me that I was investing in something that I knew was a well run company. Even the hangar it's located in is kept up well and has fun snacks. The whole operation is inviting, and I think I'll be able to get my private pilot's license very quickly. The price may (in the end) be a touch higher, but this is an instance where you get what you pay for.
I will fully admit that I have been spoiled in getting my PPL here! Beautiful fleet always in great condition and I had the best instructors. Their instruction was so good, it prepared me for military flight school so it was a breeze!
