Best Lake Lodge

Where to start, after searching for a vacation rental home on the water this location appeared in almost every search I conducted for Louisiana. It was listed on multiple vacation rental websites. So the listing described this lake lodge as having this great view (which it did) and a large home with ample enough bedrooms and bathrooms for a large party of 14 max (we were only 7). Pool table with Hotnn- Given code to unlock the front door but it was already unlocked.nn- Cooling system was working/running prior to our arrival. (thank goodness)nn- We found there to be an “old home” smell as you walked in and continued throughout the entire inside.nn- Kitchen had been updated with decent appliances and cabinets were mostly stocked with utensils and cookware.nn- Stove heating element didn’t work at the time and I had to fix it in order for us to have a full functioning cooktop. Luckily the double wall ovens worked fine.nn- Outside on back patio door were large swarms of flying (mosquito like) bugs and cobwebs with spiders hanging from everywhere. Pest control was called and came to spray the property. The outside patio area had not been cleaned and looked as if no one had been there for quite some time.nn- Swimming platform and waterslide, it was apparent that no one had come to clean the property prior to our arrival there was trash and debris all of the walkway down towards the swimming platform and of course massive cobwebs covering everything.nn- On the swimming platform itself the security lighting was broken and just hanging/wrapped around the wood railing. The slide and deck was covered in cobwebs and spiders. No water connection for the slide was apparent. The steps from the water up to deck were right at the water level so it made it almost impossible to get out of the water without hurting yourself or having someone else there to help pull you out of the water.nnNote: The really big spiders came out after dusk and covered the entire swim platform.nn- The listing described a fire pit which we were unable to locate.nn- The listing described a 5th bedroom with daybed which we were unable to locate.nn- The listing described a pool table which we were unable to locate.nn- The covered portion of the back patio was also covered in cobwebs and spider. The grill and hot tub area, noticed the grill was filthy and the accompanying table and chairs were extremely dirty.nn- Hot tub was not working and remained broken (due to lightning strike 2 weeks prior) the duration of our trip. Betty (property manager) tried to make us feel stupid by saying and I quote “It's summertime and hot outside why would you want to be in a hot tub?” I explained we were super excited to use it and was one of the main reasons we chose this location for our family vacation spotnn- With the hot tub not working and the spiders everywhere, we were restricted to staying inside for the majority of the time with children that ranged from 17 down to a 7 month old we were extremely disappointed in this as we could have just stayed at our 5 bedroom home and swam in our clean pool and grilled for our vacation.nn- We discussed all of the issues with Betty and she only gave us a $100 credit in total! This was a complete slap in the face in my opinion but either way I get it was not reasonable accommodation for the lack of features we were told we would be able to utilize during our stay.nn- I CAN NOT IN GOOD CONSCIOUS RECOMMEND STAYING AT THIS LOCATION UNTIL MORE UNDERSTANDING/BETTER PROPERTY MANAGEMENT IS IN PLACE!!
