I am a student here and I had over $200 stolen out of my dorm because housing felt it necessary to change my locks with no notification before doing so and leaving the door unlocked. After reporting it to security they said it was my fault for the theft and they could do nothing about it. School is also extremely u organized.
DO NOT attend if you have a learning disability. You will not receive accommodations as promised. The Audio books they have were absolutely horrendous, Inaudible. I was told I should find a larger institution that could properly accommodate me.
A wonderful University that's still small enough to give you a family feel with Christian morals. Every student minors in Biblical Studies. Feel in ud83dudc98 with the school the first time we visited, back in November.
The year I attended Point University will always be remembered as the WORST year of my life hands down.. I will be fair this occurred in 2013-2014 and changes could possibly have occurred but hear me out. This University pitches a Christian atmosphere where people can receive a good education but neither are true.nI didn’t even feel safe as an 18 year old man. There were constant fights, students with weapons they weren’t permitted to have (with prior legal offenses that should’ve kept them from being admitted) but it wasn’t like highschool where you get to go home. These sketchy people just live steps away from you at the PLC. My apartment was broken into on 3 occasions leaving my Xbox stolen, 100$ cash stolen, computers, tv’s you name it. The guy in charge of the student housing and such (Chris Burns) did nothing about it and we couldn’t even get our screen door fixed correctly so they kept breaking through.nWe had no firearms or means to protect ourselves from folks who were repeatedly breaking in whether they were students or just citizens in the surrounding area so we just had to hope nobody would come in. There were a large amount of athletes there that had behavior problems that wouldn’t be allowed anywhere else to play which through the rumor mill I heard of one or two who were responsible for the break ins. One would think would be a small part of the population but the amount of people there for Christian education was slim. Many athletes were just normal students looking to play ball but the football team in particular... had some definite issues off the field, but I’ll talk about my experience in sports.nI was there for a football scholarship.I was switching from the defensive end to linebacker position, working in a 4-3 defense for the first time and was expected to know everything the first day and was given no direction. I had plenty of athletic potential at 6 foot 235lbs but instead I left the team because the coaches just had no desire to help. I was seeking to develop my skills at this very small college and hopefully transfer but they treated me like a know-nothing when I had just recently made the position switch. This particular coaching staff were all eventually fired for their poor attitudes and lack of ability to succeed. So now that I quit football I was still stuck at the school. I should’ve just withdrew and called it a day but I already had a place to live and everything. Little did I know what I was in for with all the break-ins and nonsense to come. Ended up playing lacrosse though I can say that was fun but never my passion.nIN CONCLUSION: DONT BE FOOLED. As an incoming freshman you’ll arrive greeted by nice people who will talk up the institution and show you the volleyball courts and amenities and try to show you how great this school is. POINT is (like the pun there? Lol) not a place you want to waste your time because you may get lucky and be in that small % of people who never runs into any problems that just go to class and goes home and has a good time, (most of them work for the admissions dept after they graduate and get paid to tell you how great the school is). OR you could be like myself and many others who suffered through the worst year of your existence always wondering when your home would be broken into, or when there’d be a fight outside your door that turned bad, or when that angry/ unstable individual who everyone knows has a gun comes looking for you etc. If you’re a kid just looking to bond with other Christians this isn’t the place for you. There are some great people around but they are a small percentage.nHeed my advice and do not attend this college. You’ll wanna transfer after a year like everybody else. (Seriously go look at the number of graduates, it’s slim)n*I have no reason for this extensive post but to deter young people from having the same “Point Experience” that I had.*nPS. For athletes, just go play at a Junior College for a year or two you’ll be a lot better off.nThanks for reading.
Nothing but completely unorganized in everything they do. They don't care about their students or what is best for them to succeed. Housing is a joke when you pay for a two bedroom apartment for 4 students and end up with 6. It isn't a priority for the school to keep up maintenance on these apartments that were made for four people not six.
