Quilting – the hand sewing of intricately decorated bed covers – is a fundamental part of the culture of the southern United States.nnSince it opened in 2012, the Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum has displayed a range of new and historic quilts and textiles on both permanent display and as part of a series of temporary exhibitions.nnFittingly housed within a converted cotton warehouse, the exterior is decorated with two ‘metal quilts’ by the nationally-important sculptor Gordon Chandler.nnThe museum sits just a short stroll from the centre of historic Carrollton at Adamson Square.

It was great. The guide was well informed and took time to explain everything .

Small but nice display here. I understand the featured quilter rotates

This museum is such a gift to Georgia. It offers an intimate space for viewing and studying works in cloth. Truly excellent exhibits. From modern to traditional to antique to art quilts—they do it all. Just a quick drive from Atlanta, walking distance from the Carrollton town square where there are restaurants and shops. It makes for a great Saturday!

Was a little disappointed. Was expecting a large hall of quilts to be admired, however this wasn't the case they have two rooms for walls and a room filled with quilt books for members, then a small reception area. The procedures for how they choose quilts for display is somewhat a mystery. This place has great growth potential to be such a wonderful place for tourists.
