I have visited many Virginia wineries this year, but Wisteria definitely stood out! It was a very secluded and authentic experience! The wine of choice was good, and I felt completely disengaged from the city life. Amazing scenery, access to a wild creek and freely walking chickens and roosters made it special and memorable. Highly recommend for people looking for a safe socially distant getaway amidst the pandemic.
Worst experience at a winery on n VA. We were a large party (6+) including a child. We waited for a tasting, meanwhile another lady approached our other group member and said on Saturdays no children are allowed and that they were very busy, I guess 5 tables of people is too many. Pretty much turned us away. Seemed very disorganized from the parking to facility set up to direction on where to go. What a shame we never got to taste the wine... but if it’s anything like the service then we didn’t miss much. So I guess reservations are needed so don’t expect to make this venue an impromptu stop. (Updated after dismissive response). All this could have been avoided when either the parking attendants saw two car loads of people when we told them or when we walked in past the tables as a large group.
Up front - did not get to experience the wine due to the staff.nThis place was suggested to us by a local brewery, we looked on google and liked the photos and decided to go.nUpon arrival we had 2 cars and the individuals assisting with parking (whom we told we had a party of 9 one being a child) told us where to park and saw us all walk in. As we were waiting to enter the tasting room after we told them 6 adults were tasting another staff member approached the 2 adults and child (who were tossing a tennis ball back and forth with a lacrosse stick near the corn hole boards) and informed us we would all have to leave due to the fact that on Saturday’s only they were 21 and up and couldn’t accommodate us as they were busy (we spotted another group of 7 and 2 groups of 3 at the time).nThis is a private establishment and perfect entitled to make their own rules, however we were offended that we encountered at least 2 other staff members whom had said nothing to us about these “rules” and when we questioned the reason why the response was short and dismissive and failed to explain any logic.nIn hindsight it appears as if these are posted on their webpage, but again having been referred to them from another local business we never visited the page. Thus were unaware of their age policies and apparent reservation suggestions/requirements (again website is a little confusing on their requirement there)nnSome signage would be nice at the entrance if there are only certain rules enforced on certain days (according to their website it’s 21 and over all the time but the lady that told us to leave said only saturdays so there’s some confusion there I guess) or just even making people aware in general of rules of the establishment.nnWe will not be back to try the establishments offerings as the staffs treatment on first try is enough to keep us away for life.
Great wine. Lots of friendly cats
What a lovely escape from the reality of today. They take safety and relaxation equally seriously, ensuring that you feel like you’ve gotten away from it all and not worrying about COVID related safety. The wines are delicious and the property is to die for. Highly recommend.
