I have to be brutally honest with this review... My husband and I decided to go to the inn at Virginia Tech for Valentines Day as they had a Valentines Day Package. A dinner at Preston’s was included and we had high expectations given all the reviews. Unfortunately, we were beyond disappointed with our four course meal. The menu was very limited for the price we paid so when we got the soup and it was cold we knew we were in for a rough ride. Going back to the soup, it was the equivalent of baby food and was even served in a baby food sized jar. The salad was, for lack of a better word, revolting. Then for our entrees the salmon was served raw the center was still cold! The vegetables were also undercooked, as there were so few items that were actually edible, we were desperate for an at least palatable end to our meal. The desert was the only positive from this dining experience, so congratulations to whoever was in charge of deserts. Yet, overall it took 2 hours for us to complete 4 courses as the server was very slow to check on the tables or bring out the next course. There was no need for 30 minutes for each course as the portions were suitable for a child and not an adult. This was definitely an experience... but not one we will want to go through again. Sadly Preston’s Restaurant will no longer be our go to when visiting Virginia Tech

Went for brunch and ordered the smoked salmon tacos. The description said there would be eggs on it. Was not the case. I mentioned this to the waiter he didn’t seem to know. The plate was plain. The dish was just smoked salmon, cream cheese and tortillas with a lime. For $14 one would think it could have been at least appealing to look at or have been something more than what it was . It looked like when my kids were little and would play restaurant. This dish could have been better if anything had been added to it but it was just tortillas cream cheese and smoked salmon it’s very disappointing.

Saturday night at 6 pm... we were the only ones in the restaurant... nothing like what was shown online... no smells of food, no music, just bright lighting. Felt like cafeteria... so we left. Our server/hostess/cook? was very nice.

Went for the seafood buffet after hearing from everybody how amazing it was. We didn't have a great buffet food experience but we will give it another shot. Not sure if food decisions were modified or limited due to COVID but the drinks we had were great.

I came here for a quick dinner with some friends and grabbed a burger and we took some time to enjoy several different bourbons that evening. The burger as well as the fries and onion rings were delicious. The selection of bourbons, as well as other whiskeys is outstanding. The perfectly friendly and outstanding bartender makes it worth the experience. What a great place to come for a bourbon and a relaxing evening while visiting Blacksburg and Virginia Tech.
