Louisa County Aquatic Facility

My sister and brother in law live in the area and discovered this place last summer. It’s a nice facility, cheap to get into even if you aren’t a Louisa area resident, a little far back from the main road that runs through Louisa making this in my opinion a hidden gem.nnThere’s three pools and the deepest one is just 6 feet deep. The pools are nice and blue, clean and there’s plenty of seating around the pool area. The locker rooms aren’t anything fancy but the times I’ve been they have never been dirty or run down looking as compared to the bathrooms at one of the swimming lakes In another county.nnThey just opened for the 2020 season in July and have restrictions in place but at least they opened as compared to lakes and pools in my area. One of the restrictions is they can’t have more than whatever percent occupancy so they have two time slots you make a reservation for, can be up to 6 in a party and you get close to 4 hours of swim time. When you come in the person who made the reservation enters to the right and the others to the left and the lifeguard working the desk asks if you’ve had any of the Covid symptoms. After the first time slot is over they clean before the next group arrives. Even though there’s reservations required and time slots it seems like you can come anytime during the slot you signed up and not a matter of you have to get there at the beginning of your time slot or not come in. Apparently if you don’t make it on a day you signed up they’ll credit it to another day. Chairs are spaced out probably a little more then 6 feet and they ask that you don’t move them.nnThere is a snack stand that is closed right now but they are selling chips and drinks at the desk and drinks are reasonably priced (cheaper then a grocery or convenience store).nnLike I said before it’s a nice facility, friendly staff, clean pools and the admission fee won’t cost you an arm and a leg nor is there any membership fees. I’m not sure if this applies this year but last year when I went if you came in after 4:00 (or maybe it was 5:00) it was a dollar cheaper to get in.

It's a very nice, well maintained pool. I was so happy they were opening it up this summer with some restrictions. I use the lap lane for exercise.

Clean, neat, friendly and helpful staff. Or family has been going here for about 12 years and it's always wonderful.

Three pools, one that's deep for lap swim and more proficient swimmers, on that only gets five feet deep for kids and poor swimmers and a kid wading pool. The kid wading pool has a fence with a child proof lock so you can relax inside without worrying about the kids running out to the deeper pool. There are lots of seats for relaxing on and some shaded picnic tables for snacks. There is also a canteen that sells soda, water, ice pops, and snacks. Every hour for 15 minutes its adult swim only so all kids have to get out (except at the wading pool) which also gets them to hydrate and use the restroom. My kids always enjoy themselves. The lifeguards seem diligent.

This summer, I've seen a VAST improvement on operations at this pool, which makes coming here again way more enjoyable.. The life guards seem way more alert to what's going on in the water vs. How they use to be prior. Just wish they had something of a better selection of items at the snack stand there.
