I am appalled that Officer Nelson could not of found more appropriate means to take care of the dog that attacked his daughter! Especially since Officer Nelson and other adults were according to the news article a few feet away and knew the dog and his young daughters first word was the dogs name. Also, knowing that it was a rescued dog and that it could be aggressive, but yet he allowed his infant daughter to be by herself, even though it's said that adults were only a few feet away from her that the dog didn't have to be euthanized whatsoever!! I put most, if not all the blame on Officer Hill, as well as any of the other adults that were supposedly only a few feet away and not on the dog, at least not enough fought on the dog to where it had to be euthanized. If you and the rest of the adults were only a few feet away, it sure does seem like Officer Hill could of prevented almost no harm to his daughter, if not any, beings that's he was only a few feet away from her!! It was a totally RIDICULOUS thing to do to that poor rescue dog and you knowing that he was because I'm sure that you and the owner both knew that he had issues according to the news article and that you should NOT of even let your daughter near him since you claimed to know that he could be aggressive!!! I know that I've broken up a couple dog fights before and even one attack on a human and within seconds I had the German Shepard off the person, without that person getting bit, so you being a trained officer with more than a gun at your disposal could of used another weapon to stop it, rather than your gun!! That's why I do NOT agree with what he did at all because that's the first thing that comes to mind, instead of using one of your other weapons, it's always let's grab my gun and shoot this dog instead of using your Tazzer, baton or anything else that you carry. Plus, it's never shoot to disable a dog or a person, your motto is let's shoot to kill an animal or a human being!! Plus, you could of even fired a shot in the air or a tree and I guarantee you that the dog would of fled, but no let's kill it!!! You and the owner I'm sure knew this dogs past history and what kind of horrible life it had before being rescued and you KNEW that it was aggressive, has been once before and could be again, so YES I blame you and the owner and any other adults who were there that would even let your child near it since you knew it's history!!!

Please commend Officer R. Espinoza Badge No. 309 for her authoritative yet fair minded approach to law enforcement. On July 23, 2017 I was detained by officer Espinoza for failure to obey a highway sign. During the traffic stop, Officer Espinoza articulated genuine concern for my safety and for the safety of other motorists traveling Rt. 29. Officer Espinoza is a credit to the Nelson County Sheriff's Office.
