Dr. Marcos Sastre, MD

I would give zero stars if I could, and am seriously considering filing a complaint with the state, but fear I am too late. I went to Dr. Marcos Sastre when I was a teen, so about ten years ago. I had been struggling with cystic acne and so I was referred here. My first real red flag was at my very first appointment. After discussing my skin issues and assuring dr. Sastre that my acne only affected my face, he asked me to get undressed so he could do a full body check. I’m sure this is standard practice, but as a young teen it made me painfully uncomfortable to undress in front of a grown man (with my father also in the room) so I refused. Instead of accepting my refusal, he began to berate me and pressure me to get undressed. This continued until a female assistant told me I did not have to. It is the hostility, anger, and frantic nature of his continuing demand that still makes me feel uneasy to this day. As I did not have a say in the matter, I continued with the appointment, still fully dressed despite his protest, and got a prescription and instructions to not wear sunblock. I’m sorry, what? I’m taking a drug that is making me even more photosensitive than I already am and you are telling me not to wear sunscreen after I told you I work as a lifeguard at a local pond? Did not follow that advice, sorry. Fast forward a month to my next appointment. My acne is getting slightly better, but I’m still picking at my pimples because I’m a stupid teenager who thinks it will help. Dr. Sastre has the nerve to tell my parents that I have borderline personality disorder. He did not merely suggest that I may have some issues with skin picking and might consider a different type of help. He told my parents I had a psychological disorder and justified it by saying he had some experience in the field. I do not care if he had experience in the field, he is not a psychologist and that was not why we were there. Call me a millennial snowflake all you want, but being labeled at a vulnerable age with a disorder that I DID NOT HAVE has scarred me. Make no mistake, this man is not the type of person you want to send your teen to. I wish I had complained to the medical board as a teen, because, as previously stated, it may now be too late. But, this man should not be allowed to give psychological advice as a dermatologist and the counselor I saw then agrees as do many others I have talked to (not as a client) since.

I have a thirty year, doctor - patient relationship with Dr. Sastre. He has done mole surgery and treated my psoriasis. I would highly recommend him.

I had Dr Sastra and his associate remove a blemish of skin cancer from my chest. The wound was botched so severly that I had to have a plastic surgen fix it.

They messed up the billing and instructed me NOT to pay my bill and wait to be rebilled. They wouldn't send me an email to confirm and refused to communicate via email. They never rebilled me, I called the office to follow-up a month later and learned they sent it to a collection agency and refused to have Dr. Sastre speak with me. Don't waste your time with these idiots. $300 for a simple wart removal.

I have been going to Dr Sastre for years. He and his office staff are outstanding!
