Skagway Ferry Terminal

My boyfriend and I were traveling home and the night we were supposed to get on the ferry to get home the ferry just so happened to “break down”. I was told, by the manager of the Skagway terminal not to worry and that the ferry should be up and running within a few weeks AT THE LONGEST. We were offered a foot ferry to a *closer town* (no options on getting home) and I was promised they would put my car on the ferry ASAP. I was also told that they would refund the tickets for my boyfriend and myself and keep my car ticket.... so they could put it on the ferry ASAP... two weeks later I get A phone call, from the Skagway manager saying she was “so sorry but the ferry is fully broken down and there’s NOTHING she can do for me.” I was refunded all the money, leaving my car abandoned in Skagway. I made phone call after phone call and was met with the same answer: “there’s nothing I can do for you, I’m sorry”.nnThat was in early January. It’s now mid July. The ferry is just now running to my town. Online I can only buy a car ticket if I have a person to go with it. But alas- I only need my car. Do I say I’m an “infant”, adding a baby to the itinerary and only paying for the car? Or do I say I’m an “adult”, adding an adult to the itinerary and another $200? Or do I call and have them process my ticket for me? Every time I call the terminal is closed and the phone rings off the hook. I’ve call at all different times of the day. There’s no voice mail giving people information on hours of operation nor does it say on google or the website.nnMeanwhile my brand new car is sitting by the ocean getting sprayed all day with salt water. “Two weeks” my ud83eudd2c. It’s been seven months and I can’t get ahold of anyone.nnOn a positive note and the reason I’m still dealing with this ud83eudd2c is because my only other option to get my car home is $1000 more expensive. An open, welcoming center point for the Alaska Ferry System in historic Skagway.

Traveled on the Columbia. Clean boat and polite staff but not up front about pet policies. You can travel with pets however, they must be left in the car, something I was 100% not okay with and hesitant about. There’s no need to stress out people’s animals more than they already are traveling. Also, boat was delayed by 4 hours and the unloading/offloading time took about 2 hours. And hey heads up the elevator safety inspection is expired.
