I enjoyed seeing the graves of the past Hawaiin royalty. Beautiful setting but wish there had been more information.

Historic setting & Hawaiian culture bring people together to worship God in friendly, reverent and meaningful ways. Hawaiian aloha abounds here.

It is a beautiful place of history, heritage and Hawaiian royalty. Sept 16, 196 yrs ago queen Keopūolani died and became a christian. This we celebrate her life as our queen of Hawaii nei.

The churchyard at Waiola Church is the final resting place for most of the Hawaiian Royal Family and is widely recognized as Maui's first church. Queen Keopuolani was baptized at Waiola on September 16, 1823.nnI have been attending Waiola whenever I'm on island since the early nineties. Although I live 2600 miles away and seldom visit more than once a year, Waiola has always made me feel like ohana (family). Aside from its rich heritage and historical importance to Maui, Waiola Church is an integral part of Lahaina's present -- providing both spiritual guidance and cultural insight to all who visit.
