Like the other one star review I as well experienced the same attitude from the person over the phone. I called no hello how are you nothing. She was very rude. I personally feel that when you are dealing with people and their health you must have a good vibe and positive attitude. It will make people feel that they choose the right place for better health. She first asked me for my insurance, and I told her I have anthem blue Cross and that I work for the WASHOE county school district Dept of transportation. She replied we don't take that insurance. I was referred by my coworker who told me that they did take our insurance and that they accepted his when he went. To be completely honest I was willing to pay cash without the insurance but the vibe I got from that phone call was complete frustration, and that is why I decided to not go to my appointment. Nobody will ever feel like you want to do good for their health when you have a negitive attitude and all your concerned about is how they are going to pay.

Absolutely HORRIFIC experience.nI now understand why people struggle to navigate the healthcare system.nUpon being referred by Sierra Neurosurgery, for a severe case of piriformis syndrome, I attempted to call Barbieri to schedule an appointment. I’m an otherwise healthy, 32-year-old male, who had his first referral to a physical therapist.nnI reached the office manager on my sixth call (a successful attempt that spanned two weeks - not one call back over that time). I could immediately tell the office manager didn’t want to be on the phone. She was audibly flustered/busy and HADNT EVEN GREETED ME before demanding my insurance carrier. I was completely taken aback. I get it: She wants to make sure someone can pay, but even if my plan was out-of-network, I had the money. It wasn’t an issue of which I assured her.nnI also assured her I had verified - through my insurance - that her office was part of my network. Didn’t matter. She continued her quest, so I informed her it was First Health. She paused and said, “ I don’t believe we take that insurance.’ Again I asked, “mam, I’ve verified with my insurance company and can pay out-of-pocket if need be. Can I please schedule an appointment?”nnShe was undeterred. “Sir, we need to take your insurance, and your referring doctor may not have gotten it right. They don’t usually know.”nnI AGAIN informed her I had personally verified with my INSURANCE company.nnUnwilling to move forward, the office manager suggested it may be best I see another physical therapist.nnI WAS COMPLETELY FLABBERGASTED. And agitated. I asked for her name and asked to speak to the doc (Barbierri). To this? To this, she LAUGHED, and said she had a lot of work to do and ‘was going to hang up now.’nnI’ve never experienced anything like it, and I am dismayed by the fact that others might commonly experience this same thing. I felt complete and utter discrimination despite having a strong PPO insurance plan that HER OFFICE TOOK.nnI can’t speak for the therapists at this location, but new patients BEWARE. If you or someone you love is in pain, this is the LAST PHYSICAL THERAPIST’s office you’ll ever want to call. BE ADVISED!nnDifficult and completely unhelpful, I hope this review saves someone the anguish I experienced. It was truly awful.
