Williams Lake Trail Head and Parking

What a cool hike. Only 2.2 miles in to get a spectacular Williams Lake and surrounding mountains view. Well-maintained trail. Decent sized parking lot, way up the hill, past Taos ski valley base area. This trail gets crowded. Even on covid Labor Day weekend. Most (90-95%) had masks on. Lots of dogs, kids. Check out the Biergarten for a nice reward after the hike.

I was hoping to go, but heard that the road you need to take to get to the trailhead — Kachina — is a super steep dirt road and you need 4 wheel drive, especially in the winter as it stays pretty icy

Incredible hike! Comfortable level of difficulty. Having snowshoes helped but not necessary.
