Grindstone Stables

Very nice family business and everyone was very friendly. They had no reservations remaining but invited us to come standby. They were very organized and efficient and we were able to join a ride since the remaining horses were suitable for my group’s size and experience.

Here just before Christmas 2020. The weather was perfect, the horses are wonderful, and the staff was awesome.nWe met the owner and his family, and they were wonderful people. The trail could be a bit challenging for a first time rider,(it's not flat!) but the horses really do all the work, so just sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery.nHighly recommended.nMy only complaint is they didn't put more snow in the ground for us! ud83dude00

We loved the carriage ride! We got there at 5:30 pm they greeted us instantly and showed us where to sit, the cushioned benches were very comfortable, and they had warm blankets to cover over with. Every person we talked to was friendly and inviting. The horses were beautiful and calm even with bucks next to the road and cars going by. The bells on the horses and the Christmas lights sparkling made it feel magical. My 3 year old was so amazed by everything she thought we were going to take off and fly, she was nervous but had a wonderful time once we explained we wouldn’t be flying.nnTake the time to go on a carriage ride when visiting! We can not wait until we visit again so we can take another ride!

What a lovely family! Grindstone Stables was the perfect way to start the day and our weekend! What a fun, relaxing, beautiful sight-seeing horseback tour of the Ruidoso hills and lake, on friendly horses, with expert horse-handlers and tour guides. This family was extremely friendly, accommodating, and welcoming to visitors, and it was well worth recommending to all who came to see the beautiful outdoors!

Brought my girlfriend here for her first ever horseback ride. The horses were awesome and all the staff and cowboys were very friendly and helpful. They did a great job accommodating all the kids and customers of all ages and experience levels.
