Blue Mesa Point

Stop to eat at the mom and pop store, they are nice people and friendly. A store and bar are connected there by a porch. The view is great overlooking Mesa Reservoir from the porch which runs all along both the store and bar. Food was frozen ,snacks are available and bathrooms. Also a RV park is right behind there ,fishing supplies can be brought. My family enjoy our time there eating and enjoying the view.

This is a bit of an oddity. The store/gas is operated by the brother of the owner. They both live at the RV park. The brother was a rant nice guy. Very talkative, but gave us a ton of suggestions for where to fish and what to use. The store has a bit of a trading post feel, a little bit of everything you can imagine. It looks quite run down from the outside, and there are more expensive and modern facilities down the road, in fact he told us how to get to every one of them and what to expect. We checked a few out, but ended up staying here. This was a bit more sheltered from the wind that was hammering sites closer to the marina/reservoir.nThere are animals. I saw the glow of eyes that I'm pretty sure were deer. After getting settled in the tent, there were clear animal feet beside us, very likely deer coming to check us out. Maybe coyote. Definitely not bear. There are no bear bins here btw. The coyote were howling in the morning. As freaky as that sounds, it's pretty normal tent camping in the area, and we were never disturbed by the animals. Did find some picked clean bones though...nTent sites are close to the road, but traffic dies down during the night, I stopped hearing cars. There are sites closer to the reservoir with a better view for a few dollars more. They'll let to take as long a shower as you want for an extra $5. Don't judge it by its cover, stop on by.

Cash only with a very steep markup for gas and it isn't a quick stop as he has to close the store once everyone is done and the rides his ATV to the fuel tanks to help you out.nnHowever it was a friendly stop and was good to be able to get gas without another station around.
